KILIMANJARO CLIMB HOLIDAY FOR A GROUP OF SIX PEOPLE [Just £730 Per Person]
Description:
DAY ONE
Machame Hut Camp [10,000ft]
Drive for 1hr from the lodge in Arusha to Machame gate for registration, and meet the rest of the crew [Cooks and Porters], ready for the climb. You will start the climb through rainforest and the giant heathers for 6hrs to the first Overnight Camp.
DAY TWO
Shira Camp [12,480ft]
Short day but rather steep, rocky and dusty trails. It's a slow hike with plenty of breaks and enough time to acclimatize. Most of the route is rather bare of vegitation providing little shade from heat. You will cross many ridges and see the first of many Senecias.
DAY THREE
Barranco Camp [13,000ft]
Start with climbing over boulders and very few rocks, then steady up-hill climb to Lava tower and stop for lunch around noon. For those interested, they may climb the up the Lava tower which is 14,850ft. [You may start to get mild headache due to the altitude change]. From Lava tower you will go down for about 2hrs through dusty and rocky trails to the Barranco Camp.
DAY FOUR
Barafu Camp [14,200ft]
Short but steep up-hill climb across barren landscape with lots of boulders and shattered rocks. You will see the Decken glaciers on your left. Keep going a very steep ridge until we reach a rocky section for more scrambling for about an hour and half. The next Camp will be on large rocks with very steep cliff faces. Will be advised to go to bed early as there will be a summit at 11.00pm.
DAY FIVE [The summit Day and Mweka Hut 10,500ft]
You will start the climb at around midnight, with very steep rocks for 1hour, then you will enter a snow covered area where you can see glaciers above. If its a moonlight night, you may turn off your head lamp and walk in the moonlight, it is a wonderful experience. You will walk for to hours to Stella point, and take breaks in between every 15mins as the as straggle of walk become more mentally and physically challenging.
By reaching the Stella point the lava fields are like loose sand. Its fustrating experience as you kind a slide back half a step on every full forward step you make. Then you will climb the UHURU PEAK [19,370ft] around 6am. Take photos, have a break and a meal.... ready to walk down the mountain to Hut Camp.
DAY SIX
Continue the hike to the gate through steep downhill and can be slippery. Arrive at the around 11am, sign out and receive your Certificate. You will be driven back to Arusha Hotel for dinner and night stay.
